I have a very dear friend to thank for being honest with me and helping me figure out that I have been ‘lazy’ with my artwork as of late.
It’s very hard to separate wants and needs when it comes to drawing, but what I have spectated over the past few years is that no matter the content, confidence is infectious and OVER confidence is cantankerous and off-putting. Stagnating in one area for too long hurts you more than it fills a hole so desperately needing to be filled. Worrying about your follower count hurts you the same way.
Above all, you need to create for yourself. Don’t be lazy, and don’t be afraid. Fear of failure is the hardest thing to get over and something I also struggle with every day. I was falling back into a hole where I am obsessive and empty, but now I have so many things to do an be proud of and not let the small things get to me.
Delter helped me get into a goddamned prestigious college that I am scared shitless about, so I hope some day my work and he will start growing again instead of stagnating. My dream is to someday get him and his world out there, no matter how popular it’s going to (or not) be.
WIP of the bloob from last night. After this is done I have some commission priorities, a sweatshirt to mock-up (and a dozen people I have to PM), an anthology to sketch for, and will probably work on some more personal/fanstuff after that :B
